It's been tough to get into the Xmas mood with all the global poverty, pain and misery going on. I really didn't feel like drawing Xmas trees, presents, cozy homes, fireplaces, cute animals.

So voila. My Xmas card for this year. Watercolor on paper and collage on photoshop.


Yep. Bar, smoke, longing. And snow. Still a little cozy, no?

Bummer. I think that rhymed. And last but not least, a song to go with the card and the wishes. Happy holidays everyone!

This weekend...

...is gonna be busy.

Two events happening during this weekend 18-19 December, one related to children's books and one to comics. Me and my clone will be attending. We haven't yet decided who will go where.

The Christmas Spirit strikes again

And when you are just about to abandon the whole Christmas-Spirit-thing this year because it's hot, it's raining tear gas and you (and everyone else) don't have money to buy anyone anything, it's starts snowing in the Center of Athens.

And it's 1:30 p.m. and you are tipsy and cold and on your way home and you aren't even sure it's really snow. But it is. People texted me saying that it's actually snowing. Radio Bubble (bar just across the street) just tweeted that "You order scotch and you get snowflakes".

Good thing is, my Christmas tree now doesn't seem completely out of context. I even have some really surreal stuff hanging off it, that a couple of friends helped me make.

I find the past few days weather great for working. Well, it's still 26 degrees, but at least it's gloomy and it's raining and it looks like winter.

The Knifer Film & Exhibition

An exhibition about the new film of Gianis Ikonomidis "Knifer". 13 comic artists will take part in the exhibition which will be held at the Attikon and Apollon cinemas and also be featured in tomorrows issue of Lifo.

Στο πλαίσιο των παράλληλων εκδηλώσεων του 23ου Πανοράματος Ευρωπαϊκού Κινηματογράφου, εγκαινιάζεται -ταυτόχρονα με τις προβολές της 20ης Οκτωβρίου στους χώρους του Αττικόν και του Απόλλωνα- έκθεση με έργα 13 Εικονογράφων που εμπνεύστηκαν από τον "Μαχαιροβγάλτη". Ακολουθώντας την ασπρόμαυρη αισθητική προσέγγιση της ταινίας, η έκθεση φιλοξενεί δημιουργίες των σχεδιαστών comics Γιώργου Γούση, Μιχάλη Διαλυνά, Κώστα Κυριακάκη, Χάρη Λαγκούση, Χρήστου Μαρτίνη, Παναγιώτη Μητσομπόνου, Αλέξιας Οθωναίου, Παναγιώτη Πανταζή, Θανάση Πέτρου, Τόμεκ και Γαβριήλ Τομπαλίδη, του ζωγράφου Τάσου Παυλόπουλου και της εικαστικού Τερέζας Ζεγκίνογλου.

Η έκθεση θα παραμείνει και μετά την ολοκλήρωση του Φεστιβάλ, ώστε να υποδεχθεί το κοινό και κατά την έξοδο της ταινίας στις κινηματογραφικές αίθουσες.

Το σύνολο των έργων, εκτός φυσικά από τους κινηματογράφους Απόλλων και Αττικόν όπου θα εκτίθενται, αναζητήστε το και στο 16σέλιδο ένθετο της Lifo που θα κυκλοφορήσει την Πέμπτη 21/10.

13 Xρόνια Jemma

Την Παρασκευή 15/10 και από τις 19:00 έως 21:00 οι συνεργάτες και φίλοι της Jemma: Αντώνης Βαβαγιάννης, Σπύρος Δερβενιώτης, Con, Αλέξια Οθωναίου, Θανάσης Πέτρου και Γιώργος Τσούκης αντιστέκονται μαζί μας στην γρουσουζιά και θα βρίσκονται στο Jemma Books & Comics Πειραιά για να μιλήσουν με τους φίλους τους και να υπογράψουν αντίτυπα των έργων τους. Στις συνέχεια θα σβήσουμε τα κεράκια και θα κόψουμε την τούρτα για τα 13 μας χρόνια.
