Agoni Grammi Gonimi / Tinos Workshops Pics

Just came back from the island of Thirasia, were I spent a week doing comic book workshops for kids in collaboration with Comicdom Press and the domestic non profit organization “Diadrasis” through the program “Agoni Grammi Gonimi”. A month ago I went to Tinos for the same reason. Amazing experience, the best I can do is post some pictures!

I think I'll split the pics and post them in different blog entries, because there's really a lot f them.

"Η “Άγονη Γραμμή Γόνιμη” είναι μια από τις ωραιότερες δράσεις που λαμβάνουν χώρα στην Ελλάδα την τελευταία πενταετία. Μια πρωτοβουλία από ανθρώπους που ξέρουν να προσφέρουν απλόχερα, μέσα από την εθελοντική τους εργασία, στιγμές δημιουργικής χαράς στους κατοίκους των νησιών της άγονης γραμμής.

Άνθρωποι από διαφορετικούς οργανισμούς, με διαφορετικά υπόβαθρα και διαφορετικές δεξιότητες, αλλά με κοινό στόχο την ισότιμη πρόσβαση στην εκπαίδευση και τον πολιτισμό για όλους, ανεξάρτητα από τον τόπο διαμονής τους, υπό την ομπρέλα της διοργανώτριας Αστικής Μη Κερδοσκοπικής Εταιρείας “Διάδραση“, έχουν ταξιδέψει, από το 2007 μέχρι σήμερα, σε περισσότερα από 20 νησιά της Άγονης Γραμμής.

Η Comicdom Press, σε συνεργασία με τους Σπύρο Δερβενιώτη, Μιχάλη Διαλυνά, Αλέξια Οθωναίου και Κώστα Κυριακάκη, ταξίδεψε στην Τήνο, την Αντίπαρο, τη Χάλκη και τη Θηρασιά, διοργανώνοντας, τί άλλο, εργαστήρια comics.

Το ξεχωριστό με την “Άγονη Γραμμή” δεν είναι μόνο να νιώσεις τη χαρά της προσφοράς, αλλά κυρίως να ανακατευτείς με ανθρώπους που έχουν παρόμοιες αντιλήψεις για θέματα πολιτισμού και εκπαίδευσης και που δεν μένουν στα λόγια, αλλά περνούν στις πράξεις."

Comicdom Con 2011 and a Thousand Links

I confess it's been a while since my last blog entry but it's been kind of hectic and there were so many things I wanted to blog about, that in the end I didn't blog at all.

I went to Tinos to run comic workshops with kids and had a great time. More about this in another blog entry, when at last I'll have all the pictures.

I finished my children's book "Princess Rosette". Here's the cover.



I've also been working on a couple of book covers and translating Night of Falling Skies in Greek. cover synopsis It's almost ready. Pity I missed this years con, but hopefully I will not wait until next year.

Rainy, gloomy weather is perfect for doing children's book work. Having English countryside view from my window would be even greater but I'll try to be reasonable and not ask for too much.
