Update

I know It's been a while since my last post...That's because I had a hell of a month, finishing my 60-page graphic novel, moving from London to Athens and traveling back to London and now Poland for the Lodz festival.

My book at last is ready and it has a cover and a name. And a blubber as well!

That close

It might seem as if I'm having a great time bathing in some Greek island, but truth is I'm working hard locked up in a basement.

I've been trying for the last two weeks to figure out the style of the new comic I'll be working on the next months. I think Ι'm kinda happy with this page. For now. Τhen again, perhaps I'm just tired and tomorrow I"ll think it's disgusting.

7 Deadly Sins

"Σου έχει μείνει καθόλου περιουσία;"

Στις 16 Μαρτίου, γίνεται η παρουσίαση του βιβλίου του Γιώργου Χατζηστεργίου "Σου έχει μείνει καθόλου περιουσία;" (εκδόσεις Αλεξάνδρεια, link). Έχω σχεδιάσει το εξώφυλλο, καθώς και μερικές εικόνες για το εσωτερικό. Το βιβλίο ειναι εξαιρετικό κατά τη γνώμη μου και σχεδόν προφητικό, λαμβάνοντας υπόψιν την παρούσα κοινωνική και οικονομική κατάσταση της χωρας μας:

"Ενώ η Ελλάδα μαστίζεται από μία πρωτοφανή κρίση και οι άνθρωποι αρχίζουν να φοβούνται στ' αλήθεια μήπως κατρακυλήσουν από τον παράδεισο της μικρομεσαίας ευημερίας στην κόλαση της φτώχειας, μια Νέα Μεγάλη Ιδέα σκάει ξαφνικά και διαδίδεται σαν τη σπίθα που βάζει φωτιά στον ξερό κάμπο: για να ξανάρθουν τα λεφτά, οι Έλληνες θα γκρεμίσουν τα σπίτια και τα μαγαζιά τους, τις εκκλησίες και τα γήπεδα, πρώτα στην Αθήνα κι έπειτα σε ολόκληρη τη χώρα, για να τα ξαναχτίσουν από την αρχή - όπως έγινε μετά τον Πόλεμο!

Η Νέα Μεγάλη Ιδέα γίνεται προεκλογικό σύνθημα, εμπλέκεται σε ενδοκυβερνητικές ραδιουργίες, φτιάχνει και χαλάει καριέρες, ανοίγει και κλείνει πόρτες σε ξένους επιχειρηματικούς ομίλους. Στη δίνη της στροβιλίζονται πολλές μικρότερες ιδέες, όνειρα και επιδιώξεις: ο πρωθυπουργός θέλει να μείνει στην Ιστορία, η Υπουργός Καθαριότητας να γίνει πάμπλουτη, ο πρωθυπουργικός σύμβουλος να δοξαστεί - ενώ η κοπέλα του πολύ θα ήθελε να γνωρίσει έναν άλλον, έναν πραγματικό άντρα...

Στην κορύφωση των εξελίξεων, ο πρωθυπουργός απευθύνεται σε μια λαοθάλασσα στην Πλατεία Συντάγματος και αναγγέλλει το βομβαρδισμό της Αθήνας από την Πολεμική Αεροπορία ενόψει της Νέας Ανοικοδόμησης. Έτσι ανοίγει διάπλατα ο δρόμος προς ένα μέλλον όπου η πραγματικότητα μπλέκει επικίνδυνα με τη φαντασία και απ' όπου θα προκύψει μια Ελλάδα τόσο καινούρια, που μόνο τα σύνορα θα θυμίζουν την παλιά."

Η συνεργασία με τον συγγραφέα τον οποίο μέχρι τότε δεν γνώριζα, ήταν ιδανική και νομίζω πως θα γίνει σημείο αναφοράς για όλες τις μελλοντικές μου συνεργασίες. : )
