Κόμικ Άλμπουμ Τσακισμένη Αυγή & Comicdom Con 2012

Το τριήμερο που έρχεται 30-31 Μαρτίου & 1 Απριλίου, στα πλαίσια του ετήσιου φεστιβάλ κόμικς Comicdom Con Athens (στην Ελληνοαμερικάνικη Ένωση, Μασσαλίας 22 στο Κέντρο) θα κυκλοφορήσει από τις εκδόσεις Jemma το κόμικ άλμπουμ μου Τσακισμένη Αυγή. Θα είμαι στο περίπτερο της Jemma και θα το υπογράφω και τις τρεις μέρες:

Παρασκευή: 18:00-20:00
Σάββατο: 16:00-18:00
Κυριακή: 12:00-14:00

Λίγα λόγια για το άλμπουμ:

Κάτω από τους θολούς και σκονισμένους ουρανούς του Λονδίνου ένα ατύχημα κάνει τις μοίρες τεσσάρων ανθρώπων να διασταυρωθούν. Με φόντο μια πόλη που δεν συγχωρεί, η αναζήτησή τους για καταφύγιο από τη μοναξιά και την αβεβαιότητα τους φέρνει κοντά με τρόπο που θα τους αλλάξει για πάντα – ή θα τους καταστρέψει. Κομμάτια από τις ζωές τους ενώνονται και σχηματίζουν την Τσακισμένη Αυγή, μια ιστορία για τον έρωτα, τον θάνατο, την ανθρώπινη φύση, τις δεύτερες ευκαιρίες και τα μυστικά που ψυθιρίζει ο ατμός των υπονόμων στα λασπωμένα πεζοδρόμια της πόλης.

Been working on a couple of stuff and getting my comic book ready for print for the Comicdom Con in the end of the month. Will soon upload cover, a couple of pages and perhaps a mini video.

Roses Climbing on my Drawer -a yesterday blog entry-

-I was supposed to upload this yesterday but I didn't cause it was impossible to take pics with no natural light.-

Today was an overly creative day and for that I am happy. I finished an illustration, I successfully made sweet and sour sauce (1st time ever) and also painted my drawer, something I've been intending to do for a year.

Also today, the center of Athens is burning (again) and for that I am not so happy. Well, perhaps I am slightly happy about the burning and the chaos (In Athens the x-mas spirit comes along with the smoke of fire and tear gas, so why break this wonderful tradition that illustrates how pleased the citizens are with the government and the police forces?). Just hoping no one will get hurt.

Using acrylic paint on wood. Starting with the ivy, then painting leafs. Surprisingly enough it smells like tear gas out in the balcony although I don't live that close to the center.



Starting to paint the roses. First shadows then highlights.



Painting small white flowers and more highlights on the roses and ivy. Done!

Εφημερίδα Τα ΝΕΑ / Έλληνες Υπερήρωες or so we were told

Illustration for Greek Newspaper "Τα ΝΕΑ". I was supposed to draw a Greek superhero, but knowing it would be somehow connected to the economic crisis, I decided to draw a guy without any real superpowers, with simply the ability to ignore the media/government propaganda and try to build a better future for himself.

Μας ζήτησαν να φτιάξουμε Έλληνες υπερήρωες οι οποίοι "δεν θα σχετιζόντουσαν απαραίτητα με την κρίση". Ο τίτλος τελικά ήταν "Οι Υπερήρωες που θα μας σώσουν απ'την κρίση" ή κάτι τέτοιο. Μαλακία. Ο Τάσος Μαραγκός το περιγράφει καλύτερα στο blog του "Πρώτον, αυτό που μου ζητήθηκε να κάνω, αν θέλω φυσικά αφού τέτοιες δουλειές δεν πληρώνονται, ήταν να σχεδιάσω τον σύγχρονο Έλληνα υπέρ-ήρωα. Έτσι απλά. Όχι τον υπέρ-ήρωα που θα σώσει την Ελλάδα από την κρίση. Αν μου είχε ζητηθεί κάτι τέτοιο θα είχα σχεδιάσει κάτι πολύ διαφορετικό ή ,το πιο πιθανό, θα είχα αρνηθεί τη συμμετοχή μου. Επομένως, όταν σχεδίαζα τον Έλλην Μικροαστό, δεν τον είχα στο μυαλό μου ως την διέξοδο από την κρίση ούτε ότι θα σώσει την Ελλάδα όπως μου χρεώνουν στην εφημερίδα. Πως γίνεται να σώσει την Ελλάδα αυτός που είναι ο κυριότερος λόγος που δεν δοκιμάζει καν να σωθεί αυτή η χώρα;".

Ευτυχώς επειδή υποπτευόμουν ότι κάτι θα πήγαινε στραβά έφτιαξα αυτόν οπότε ήμουν on the safe side...

Περιοδικό ΔΙΑΒΑΖΩ, "Book in a Frame"

The first comic of my new comic book series "Book in a Frame" for diavazo (διαβάζω) magazine.

"Book in a Frame" είναι ο τίτλος της καινούργιας σειράς κόμικ που ξεκίνησα για το περιοδικό διαβάζω. Το περιοδικό έχει ανανεωθεί από πλευράς ύλης και αισθητικής και στα πλαίσια της παρουσίασης νέων και παλιότερων βιβλίων με πιο εναλλακτικούς τρόπους, γεννήθηκε η ιδέα κόμικ το οποίο θα παρουσιάζει ένα διαφορετικό βιβλίο κάθε φορά.

Στο τεύχος του Σεπτεμβρίου, θα βρείτε το πρώτο κόμικ της σειράς, εμπνευσμένο από το "Οι Άθλιοι του Παρισιού και του Λονδίνου" του Τζορτζ Όργουελ.

Summer is over (unfortunately the heat is not) and I am ready to slip into a more sulky, introverted and creative mood, which fits Fall best.

Jemma Mega Blowout and signings

Non Greek speakers sorry about the Greek, this is mainly information about a comic book signing event in Athens.

Αύριο Σάββατο 25/6, ώρα 14:00-16:00, στα πλαίσια του τέταρτου ετήσιου JEMMA MEGA BLOWOUT, θα κάνουμε signing μαζί με τον Σπύρο Δερβενιώτη στο Jemma Books and Comics στον Πειραιά (Αλκιβιάδου 138-140). Μέσα στο Σαββατοκύριακο αυτό στο Jemma του Πειραιά και της Καλλιθέας θα υπογράφουν τα βιβλία τους και οι Αντώνης Βαβαγιάννης, Ηλίας Κυριαζής, Τάσος Μαραγκός, Παναγιώτης Πανταζής, Τόμεκ και ο Γαβριήλ Τομπαλίδης.
